Adam Graham of Carlisle guilty of the murder of  Christopher Haliday, by shooting him in the parish of Kirk Andrews on Esk on 23rd December 1747, so that he died of the wound on 28th December.  His execution and the subsequent hanging of his body in chains on Kingmoor is reported in the Newcastle Journal.
