Richard Chilcott (otherwise Richard Lee) , aged 21, and Colborne Smith, aged 24, found guilty on an indictment for a burglary in the dwelling house of Richard Groot in the parish of Manuden on 21st December 1795: stealing therefrom a watch with silver cases (value at £2), a steel chain (valued at 2/-), a cornelian stone seal set in base metal (valued at 2/-), 6 silver teaspoons (valued at 15/-), 2 silver tablespoons (valued at 18/-), a pair of silver shoe buckles (valued at 6/-), a pair of silver studs (valued at 2/-), a skin purse (valued at 1d), 2 pairs of leather boots (valued at £1.1/-)2 roilsnett waistcoats (value at £1), a diaper breakfast cloth (valued at 2/-), a linen apron (valued at 2/-), a muslin neckerchief (valued at 2/6), a pair of men’s ;leather gloves (valued at 2/-), a pair of men’s woollen yarn gloves (value at 1/-), 2 horse whips (valued at 4/-), 2 pints of Brandy (valued at 3/-), 2 pints of Geneva (valued at 5/-), a gold half guinea and 8/- in money numbered.
