William Brooks (otherwise William Fuller) , aged 26, found guilty on an indictment for  breaking into the dwelling house of William Polter in the parish of High Ongar on 9th September 1785; and stealing therefrom a shirt (valued at 4/-), an apron (valued at 3/-), a handkerchief (valued at 1/-) and a pair of sleeve buttons (valued at 6d).
