John Hughes (otherwise Jones, otherwise John Castell) in the parish of St Asaph on 7 June 1758 assaulted William Roberts with a shovel of iron and wood (value 1/-) giving him a mortal wound on the right side of his head whereof he languished till 14 June when he died (WALES 4/1005/9). He was ordered for execution on Monday 28 August and his body to be dissected by Mr John Key, surgeon (WALES 14/85). The execution is reported in Adam's Chester Chronicle.
