Robert Williams (of the parish of Crampton, Somerset) on 13 June 1761 assaulted John Bartlett in the parish of St John-juxta-Swansea with a stone striking him on the back of the head so that he instantly died (WALES 4/619/2) He was ordered for execution on Monday 10 August and afterwards his body to be hanged in chains near to the murder site (WALES 14/25).The inquest on John Bartlett describes him as a mariner and that he was murdered on Havod Marsh.
