Friday, 29 March 1765

Evan Jenkins for te murder of Elizabeth Evans on 5th October 1764 in the parish of Llanwnnog strangling her.  She was pregnant by him and he had offered her a guinea to swear te child to some other person.  One witness testified that Jenkins had sworn a hundred times he would rot in iron befoe he would marry her.  There is a reference in the London Chronicle to this execution on 29 March 1765 and to its having been “the first since that of Evan and Margaret Jones about 28 years previously.”  Such a statement, if true, would rule out executions in 1747 and 1757.
