William Shaughnessy murdered his wife and daughter Marie Alexine Shaughnessy 46 and Joyce Shaughnessy 20 who he strangled at 319 Arundel Street, Portsmouth on 18 and 19 December 1950.

He was convicted of the murder of his wife but the murder of his daughter was left on file.

William Shaughnessy was an old clothes deal and strangled his wife with a stocking and then hid her body in a cupboard.
