David Tyrie

David Tyrie guilty of High Treason in corresponding with the French.  He was sentenced to be drawn to the place of execution and there hanged by the neck; cut down alive and his entrails and privy member cut from his body and burned in his sight; his head to be cut off and his body to be divided into fur quarters and disposed of at the King’s pleasure.  The Hampshire Chronicle records that after hanging 23 minutes he was cut down; his head removed; his heart taken out and burned; his privates cut off; his body quartered and all put in a coffin which was then buried among the pebbles by the sea-side.  As soon as the officers had retired the sailors dug up the coffin and cut the body into a thousand parts - each carrying away a part to show to their mess-mates.
