John Townsend, aged 26, William Walker, aged 27, and Thomas Collins, aged 26, found guilty on an indictment for a burglary in the dwelling house of Samuel Ellis in the parish of Christchurch, Southwark on 4^th October 1783: stealing therefrom 2 pairs of silver candlesticks (value at £6), a pair of mottled coloured silk stockings (valued at £2), 3 silver tablespoons (valued at £1), a pair of silver shoe buckles (valued at 5/-) and a pair of silver caster tops (valued at 5/-) - the goods and chattels of Samuel Ellis; and 2 cloth coats (valued at 15/-), 2 cloth waistcoats (valued at 5/-) and 2 man’s hats (valued at 10/-) - the property of John Lee.
