Robert Fawthorp of Selby guilty of the murder of Elizabeth Farrand by striking her between her left ear and left cheek with an instrument made of wood, iron and steel called an Adedge, in the parish of Church Fenton on 5th October 1748.  He was also indicted for the murder at the same time of Mary Parker
