James John (of the parish of Crickhowell) in the parish of Llangattock on 4 January 1741 guilty of murder: assaulted his bastard daughter, Sarah Powell, aged 2, by taking her in his arms and throwing her into the River Usk where she instantly died (WALES 4/377/2). Death sentence. No reprieve traced.
