He had been a soldier in General Guifes Regiment.
He had been earlier repreived from a death sentence and transported for 2 years but he broke out of jail twice setting the other prisoners free.
He was taken in Dublin, sent as a deserter to his regiment in Gibralter and then sent to London and then onto Carlisle where he was tried on a fresh indictment.
