James Crawley was convicted of the murder of William Tibley. He killed him at noon on Christmas day 1842.

James Crawley had some differences with his father and so his father appointed William Tibley as a constable to protect him. On Christmas day James Crawley went to his fathers house but William Tibley denied him entry and so James Crawley went home, put on his best clothes, took a double barrelled gun and got on a horse and rode back to his fathers house where he shot William Tibley dead and then rode off.
