Both hanged on Mortimer Common, afterwards in chains there. Friday, 9 March 1787 (Reading Mercury) William Hawkins (aged about 16) indicted for feloniously, wilfully and of his malice aforethought being present aiding, abetting, assisting, helping, comforting and maintaining Tole the felony and murder aforesaid in manner and form aforesaid to do and commit. After execution their bodies were hanged in chains on Mortimer Common
