Saturday, 12 August 1780 (Reading Mercury) Joseph Sansum indicted for a burglary in the dwelling house of Thomas Pierce in the parish of East Garston on 27th April 1780: stealing therefrom 2 bushels of malt (valued at 5/-) and 80 pounds of bacon (valued at 40/-) - the property of Thomas Pierce; a serge waistcoat (valued at 5/-) - the property of William Pierce and a hempen sack (valued at 1/-) - the property of William Smith.
