James Snook, aged 39, found guilty of the highway robbery of John Stevens on 10th May 1801 in the parish of North Church: stealing from him 6 bags (valued at 6/-), the property of the King. This was a robbery of the mail. He was indicted also for stealing the contents of the bags but received sentence on the charge of robbing John Stevens. He was ordered to be hanged near where the robbery took place and executed accordingly at Bovingdon ??
