August 7th: Lawrence Maurice HICKEY
Dublin
Convicted at Maryboro Assizes in July, for the murder of his brother-in- law. Dennis Daly (40), a wealthy farmer. On Thursday 22 November 1888, Daly was found shot dead on a road leading from Tralee to Castleisland. During the investigation, police learned of a family feud that had been going on for several months, and questioned Hickey and another man. The other man, also a relative. was acquitted. Hickey was convicted and hanged by James Berry.
