Patrick Leggett was convicted of the murder of Sarah Jane Leggett 27 and sentenced to death.

They had been married but Patrick Leggett became suspicious that Sarah Leggett had been seeing someone else and had rowed about it and eventually Sarah Leggett left Patrick Leggett and went to stay with her brother at 93 Wylies Back Land, Whiteinch.

On 13 September 1902 Sarah Leggett went to Partick with her cousin and her baby. When they got back at 6pm they went into the house where the cousin was knocked unconscious by Patrick Leggett who had been hiding there and who then stabbed Sarah Leggett, cutting her throat.

They had screamed and alerted the neighbours who saw Patrick Leggett run off.
